Thursday is Peanut's birthday, and we know we're not throwing her any party. Instead, we're going to give small birthday token for each of her daycare mates. I decided on some small board books, each contains two different adventures of Dikkie Dik the cat, in Dutch (since almost all of her mates are Dutch anyway).
To personalise it, I made a card for each, saying "Cora is 1!" (because it means the same in English AND Dutch, and my Dutch is not really good). They are made of hard cardboard paper cut into square pieces, onto which I drew the design with crayons and coloured pencils. In the end I came up with eight different designs, for all 24 of them. To attach it to the book, I found some leftover silver ribbons from last Christmas, and tie them together. All in all, the cards are made for free, from materials I found around the house. I am quite pleased with the result, and I had a blast drawing those. There's always something about the smell of crayons on my fingers that just brings all sort of good childhood memories...
